Small business website design in St. Petersburg that makes the phone ring
For most local businesses, the website has one job: turn a search into a call, a booking, or a visit. We design and build small business websites around that job, with local search set up from the first day.
What these sites must get right
- A tap-to-call phone number on every page, visible without scrolling
- A plain statement of the services you offer and the areas you serve
- Business name, phone, and hours that match your Google Business Profile exactly
- Fast load times on a mid-range phone over a cellular connection
- Reviews, licenses, and photos of real work near the contact button
- Short contact forms that reach someone who will respond the same day
- An easy way to post holiday hours and storm closures
The site has one job: get the call
A small business site doesn't need to impress other designers. It needs to tell someone on a phone, in a few seconds, what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you. Most small business sites we see fail that test in predictable ways: the phone number is an image that can't be tapped, the service area is never stated, or the home page opens with a slogan instead of the service.
Our small business website design starts from the call. The phone number is tappable on every page. Service pages say plainly what's included and where you work. Reviews, licenses, and photos of real jobs sit close to the contact button, because those are what convince someone to pick up the phone. Forms are short and go to an inbox someone actually checks.
That's also what Google rewards for local searches: clear services, clear locations, and pages that load quickly on mobile.
Local search for St. Petersburg businesses
Most local customers find a business through Google Maps or the map results at the top of a search, then visit the website to decide. Your Google Business Profile and your website have to agree: the same business name, phone number, hours, and categories, and service pages that match the services listed on the profile.
In St. Petersburg, location matters at a fine grain. A salon in Old Northeast, a mechanic off 34th Street, and a landscaper covering all of south Pinellas each compete in a different radius. We set up service and location pages to match the area you actually serve, not a list of every town in the county. If you run a service-area business from home, we set up your profile and site to show coverage without exposing your address.
When you want ongoing help after launch, our digital marketing work picks up from the same plan. There's more about the local market on our St. Petersburg page.
A website you can run without us
Owners don't have time to file a ticket every time the hours change. We build sites with a simple editor for the things that change often: hours, services, staff, photos, and announcements, including the storm closures and reopenings that come up most years between June and November.
We also keep the technical footprint small, with few plugins, no unnecessary add-ons, and hosting that doesn't need babysitting. When something does need a developer, you reach the same people who built it. Start with our web design service, or tell us what your site needs to do.
Hosting, security updates, and backups get sorted out before launch, so a plugin vulnerability or an expired domain doesn't take the site down on a busy Saturday. Your domain and accounts stay in your name, and you get a short document listing what renews and when. Plenty of small businesses have lost a site because a former web person held the only login; we set things up so that can't happen to you.

Questions we hear
Do I need a custom website, or is a template builder good enough?
A builder can work for a very small business with a simple offer. Trouble starts when you need to rank for several services or areas, when add-ons slow the site down, or when it has to connect to booking or estimating software. We'll tell you honestly which group you're in.
Can you help if I work from home and don't want my address online?
Yes. Google Business Profile lets service-area businesses hide their address and list the areas they serve instead. We set up the profile and the website so they agree, and we keep the address off the site and out of its structured data.
What should I have ready before we start?
Your list of services, the areas you want customers from, a few photos of real work, any licenses you'd like shown, and access to your domain and Google Business Profile if you have them. If you're missing photos or copy, we'll plan around it.
